I don’t buy that to be honest, in 1994 there were ample examples of excellent platform games without slippery characters, cheap pitfalls that were correctly positioned relative to the viewport so the player can at least see what’s what. Super Mario is even from 1990.
Did you experience the same in the DOS version or is that a bit less dramatic with VGA and such?
