I first played Civ1 when I was about 13. When I started I had no clue what to do. But over time I learned how to play and of course developed my own strategies that more or less worked. An early strategy I had was to build the Great Library as fast as you can so you can just steal tech while growing your armies. I also would try to get knight units as fast as I could because those units work so well, even into the tank era. I used to just play without despotism because I was always afraid of revolutions, but later learned that monarchy and communism led to bigger cities and faster development. I was able to win games usually by destroying everyone because it was fun trying to conquer land. Till this day, my strategies haven’t evolved much, so I love reading about what others have done (and reading the proper way to play).

Btw, have you guys started recording the podcast yet? I’d love to be on it for this episode!
