Yeah, I just gave it a play and this map is fantastic; really nails the E1 vibe. I played on UV and was near death a couple times, but difficulty felt pretty well balanced overall, at least until I found the BFG 🙂
I agree that the secrets in this map were satisfying to search for and felt rewarding to find. Very nice work!
A few points of feedback:
– Some of the secrets are spoiled by the automap. You can mark a door linedef as “secret” so it will show as a normal red line like other walls instead of the yellow that indicates a door.
– You can just jump to the red key in the middle area, skipping the stair builder switch. Not a huge deal, but if you’re planning to redo this part anyway, that might be worth addressing. I’m all for adding a baron here, since the map provides enough ammo that having a mini-boss would work well I think.
Looking forward to the final version, which should complete the map pack and allow us to cut a beta release for the club to play.
