Alright, DGC-T4B.WAD with tweaks to E1M1 for coop and a rough draft of a new sky. (Looks like attachments may be broken on this forum, or require steps I’ve overlooked? Back to GDrive for now.)
I tried to address banding in the sky, but I’m having trouble editing to the exact palette. My initial palette conversion attempts in GIMP looked similar to what SLADE did to the attached. But my pre-converted image ended up horribly distorted once imported into SLADE, which seems to force its own palette/format conversion–even when starting from an indexed PNG. So I don’t see a way to address this without either debugging my process for possibly hours or just giving up and replacing the sky a few times until something without hideous banding comes out.
If folks can stand the current banding then I may just touch up the repetition seam at the edges and call it a day.
On another note, DOS/Chocolate/Crispy Doom is so much darker! My cloud looks *much* lighter in GZDoom which washes out the effect :(. Tempted to make things darker to compensate but then DOS might be nearly unplayable without gamma correction.
EDIT: Had to re-upload. Apparently all my bouncing between SLADE and UDB broke E1M6 somehow. Updated file has E1M1 tweaks, first draft of the sky, and E1M6 works again.
EDIT2: I just have to say what a joy it is to see the clever tricks folks have put into these maps! Y’all put in some heinous traps and nice effects like deep nukage that make me curse but also smile. Not even done going through them and every one so far has been a treat.
