I thought the Doom movie was pretty good upon release, but when I watched it again a couple of years ago, I certainly changed my mind!
Some time ago, a few pictures appeared online of Doom for the 3D0, the plot was explained with FMV cut scenes in between the levels. They filmed with actors and full size monster costumes (at least one anyway) against green screen.
The FMV stuff was dumped before the game was released. The footage is probably lost now.
