    Hey there.

    How I’ve found this place:

In recent time I got back into older games more and more and with that very recently I started to play Ultima Underworld. For some reason when I heard “Ultima Underworld” in the past my head went to “Descent to Undermountain”, so I basically ignored it since the 90s (as the latter wasn’t received very well)
But when I played it now, I was in aw about everything it did, considering it came out in 1992 and I was immediately hooked by the athmosphere and exploration. I was SO excited in fact that I wanted to learn more about it and started looking for podcasts that cover this game.

This way I found the DGC-podcast and I liked the cast and format so much, that I started listening to other episodes and finally registering here.

A few things about my own Background regarding DOS games:

As a teenager in the 90s and part of a group of nerds at school, of course my interest was rsen by computer-games. After my parents first computer for their business (which I was forbidden to use soon hahaha) I saved money for my own PC and finally bought a used 486SX. And I stuck with that one several years untill I made the jump to a pentium with 333MHz – so quiet a jump, BUT it also means, I spent my fair share of time with DOS and DOS games.

Eversince I consider myself a gamer but from time to time I went back to my favorite games of the DOS era or (as recently) delve into DOS games which I’ve missed back in teh day.

    Incredible! Welcome 🙂

The 486 certainly was a huge part of many DOS gamers lives, those Pentiums were just too expensive!

    Hey welcome. 🙂

We also had a 486 in the family for a long time. It was always my fathers work PC but we were gentle with it and did never lose the privilege to play on there. I think my brother and i had a computer for ourselves way later. Pentium 3 era or somewhere around there.

    Thanks for the warm welcome.

Haha, yes, well the forbiddance stemmed from parent’s idea of how computers work. When something didn’t work or they couldn’t find something anymore, they thought it must have been my fault, because I obiously installed games, and if there isn’t enough space on the computer for installing, the computer would throw some other files out.

Weird, that problems still occured, when I wasn’t allowed to touch it anymore. Hahaha
