The music in this game is amazing.

    Oh yeah, this sounds worthy.

I think I played my Betrayal at Krondor before I got a soundcard. I have no memory of the music. It’ll be interesting to dive back into this game!

I’m particularly interested in playing this one again, as it’s the game that really got me hooked on computer gaming. Can’t wait for December to roll around.

If anyone wants FLACs of the redbook audio soundtrack, I uploaded them here. Enjoy!

I guess this is from one of the cd-rom versions, which from what I understand from the game’s wikipedia article, had the original midi music converted into cd audio tracks.

This made me look into the files of GOG’s release I am playing atm and it seems that these tracks are in fact included in .ogg format, which I think is a nice touch from GOG. Durations, number of tracks, and track numbers seem to match with the video’s description (I like that track #1 is missing since this was the game’s binary blob in the original CD).

Inside the game, if you open Preferences, there is a check box called CD Music but I don’t know if you can make this work. Maybe if you have the original CD and install the game from there.

Personally I prefer the original midi sound, and I think dosbox does a very good job making the game sound as close as what my old sound card used to sound, or at least that’s how I remember it since my old hardware is unfortunately long gone.

FWIW, the GOG version has pops and skips in the CD music, due to them using the ISO from a well-known pirated release of the game which was imaged from a scratched CD ;D

Just an update to the music: I mentioned a “hidden track” redbook audio track on the podcast. Here it is:

According to the post, the bard Tamney sings this to you, but I’ve never heard it played in-game myself.

On the CD, it is track #28 of 62.
