I believe that it has been quite some time since we last did a cinematic platformer. While I can appreciate that this isn’t everyone’s favourite genre, FB is easily in the top 3 ever made.
It was originally built for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, but the MS-DOS floppy version received the highest quality port.
There’s lots of fun information on Paul Cuisset’s development of the game, and his truly execrable remake of it in 2013 which might be fun to talk about (rip on) as well. 😀
I grew up watching this playing on a high end 386DX PC in my local mall as a kid. The rotoscoped cutscenes and gameplay blew me away, and I was convinced it was a CD-ROM at the time.
It’s a fun game that can be finished in a couple of hours, with plenty of technical information on its development. The story is more developed than the story in Blackthorne, and has more cinematic elements and varied gameplay.
