    I tinker with FreeDOS every now and then.
    I love the fact that it exists, but like with so many open source products I find it a bit bloaty and unfocussed.
    I’ll have to check out version 1.4 though!

    I’m testing/alternating between FreeDOS 1.4 and others (DR-DOS, SvarDOS) in VirtualBox and of course DOSbox. Just today (maybe late in the game here) I discovered there is and updated project DOSbox Staging forked from DOSbox that I’ve just started trying. Seems to work great so far!
