Good video by ADG. I think some of his frustrations were avoidable, though. It seems that he missed the concept of using the radar to find the hostages, and that tapping the jump button to fly up works reliably without cut-offs when the fuel is depleted (so you can get to every place, just slower).
I got the HH registered 1.1 from RGB Classic Games (classicdosgames.com) and compared to the AC 1.0 that I’ve played through.
Other than the swapping of Mission 1 and 3 (I wish they hadn’t done it, because it really spoils the progression with Mission 3 being easier and full of tutorials), I’ve noticed the following:
* AC doesn’t show the ticking down timer anymore. The mechanic is still there (i.e., you get some bonus for finishing the level before the timer runs out), but I guess players found it confusing, because nothing happens if the timer does run out (you don’t lose).
* The flamethrower refill is completely free in AC, whereas in HH it costs 5 credits. This is probably the most meaningful gameplay change, and one that I welcome wholeheartedly.
* HH came with a small hintbook (HH-HINT.EXE) which gives some tips. AC dropped this one (only the general help/troubleshooting guide remained).
* The main data file (HARRY.-0) seems to be uncompressed in HH (3.9MB) while it is compressed (only 1.9MB) in AC.
* I haven’t tried the 2007 freeware release of AC.It sure would have been nice to not encountered the occasional screen distortion which, allegedly, was fixed in it.
