    Hi everyone,

My name is John and I live in the UK. I first heard about DGC via a mastodon post and gave the first episode a listen and really enjoyed it.

I’m working my way through the episodes, but I do a lot of driving for work, so after my first shift of seven days, I’ve already made it through the first 20 episodes.

Quick aside, I love the graphical layout of the forums, so nostalgic!

I’ve played on various consoles and computers in my life, starting with a ZX81. Even though my father had a PC, I got my own after my Atari ST was starting to show its age.

If I recall correctly, it was a 486DX33 with 4mb ram. I remember creating batch files with menus to configure the system for expanded or extended memory!

Keep up the good work, guys!

    Welcome John!

The podcast certainly is an awesome listen while driving, I did the same and binged the lot as well! The problem is the eventually run out hah, but aleast you’ve joined with plenty of backlog to listen to.

What are some of your choices of genre’s or games over the years?

And do you still have any of the old hardware laying around?

    Hello!

Thank you for the warm welcome. Sadly, I don’t have any old hardware. That PC was upgraded over many years until noone of the original machine was left anymore. In it’s just incarnation I gave it to my father so he could use it for word processing.

Back then, I enjoyed action games and adventure games. I loved basically anything that came out of the Lucasarts stable. I’m my eyes they did no wrong.

Once the CDROM format came in, I bought my first, a quad speed dive from Encom Computers for £120 and that was a bargain price back then.

I became a bit obsessed with FMV based games and I bought some real mediocre games because I was sold on the blurbs on the games packaging. The more CDs, in my opinion, the better!

I’m on episode 87 at the mo, and I’m hoping to become more involved when I’m up to date. I don’t fancy being a voice from the past. 😆
