I’m gonna play this one!

Yay, a suggestion of mine got accepted. It’s been almost 4.5 years since I played EWJ 1+2, so I will gladly refresh my memory of these goofy, bizarre, slightly aggravating, yet hilarious games.

4.5 years? You’re one lucky game suggester 😀
We’ve had people wait 7 years, which is also how long the podcast exists.
noob question: what platform are we playing this on?
Don’t stress too much. Members generally find whichever version works for their circumstances, as long as it’s close enough to the DOS version.
Usually that ends up just being whatever release GOG offers on DOSBox.
Well that makes sense – this being a DOS game club. IDK why I didn’t come up with that answer on my own.
Indeed, for DOS Game Club the expectation is to play the DOS version.
Unfortunately, it’s a bit worse than the Windows version. Read about it here:

However, EWJ2 for DOS is awesome.
@dr_st – that’s an interesting read
@TigerQuoll – I love GOG, and how they make it easy to pick up a retro game, ready to run with DOSBOX – all on the cheap.
I managed to pick up Earthworm Jim (for DOS). I remember seeing it on consoles back in the day, but I’ve never played it. It looks like it’ll be a fun one.
Hmmm… DOS vs Win95 versions seem a bit vague and ambiguous. I wasn’t completely sure what version I was getting on GOG until I downloaded it. It’s interesting actually that they went with the DOS version (lucky for us!), considering it’s supposedly inferior to the Windows version, and allegedly never released individually (at least according to dt_st’s link).
I guess it’s because bundling it with DOSBox is easier than trying to get a 30 year old game working on modern windows.
But even on archive.org and ebay it’s hard to find a version that is unambiguously for DOS.
Yeah I agree. There’s a few games like that on GoG. Another example is Sim City 2000. The Windows 95 and Mac versions were superior, but the version on GoG is the DOS version. I guess you’re right that it’s just easier for them to wrap up the DOS version, but they somehow got games like Carmageddon 2 working which never had a DOS release from memory.
