Jagged Alliance (1995)
-
One of my favorite games of my childhood.
It had nice music and graphics and was quite deep in terms of gameplay. Lots of turn-based action but also hiring mercenaries, planning your next day, dividing the loot between your mercenaries, etc.
Played it a lot with a friend although it wasn’t a multiplayer game. Just sitting behind one computer, discussing tactics, laughing about failed actions and stubborn mercenaries.
Yes please, I’m SO much for this!
Btw, Deadly Games had multi player 😉
I know! Played Deadly Games too.
Loved the level/scenario editor and slightly better graphics (more diverse textures).
But the single player story of Jagged Alliance is what I loved most. Getting the Micro Purifier, hearing the stories of the locally hired mercenaries like Hamous and Juan.
Jagged Alliance is one of my most beloved DOS games. I still boot it up every once in a while to play it. I still have my original copy!
The sequel was amazing so would love to hear about the less-well-aged original
I own this game in one or two formats; I’ve played the sequel maybe halfway through and it was pretty cool. Would be very interested to play this with the club!
