Jumping on board
-
Hullo! I started by listening to just the podcast episodes about games that I already knew, then got drawn into the rest of the backlog and found myself wanting to play these old-but-new-to-me games. (Okay, maybe not some of the pinball games. No shade, just not my jam.)
I figured the first of the month was a good time to join up and get my DOS gaming on with the current pick. Looking forward to being familiar with the discussed games from here on out!
Somehow the nostalgia just sucks you in. Then you discover that some games you thought were great are not that great and some games you thought were awesome are actually still awesome.
What’s your prefered way of playing these old games?
I hear you on how opinions evolve. Seems to apply to a lot of things I enjoyed as a kid, although possibly the biggest factor is how much more impatient I am as an adult. Gaming takes time! And I’ve got less of it now… What were some of your old faves that have held up?
I usually pick these up on GOG — nice and easy, and I hope it encourages them to keep making older games available more widely. I’ve picked up a few boxes on eBay, mostly because I have a fondness for physical manuals when they’ve got a lot of interesting reading material.
