The “extras” for this game are here:

including the manual, some sort of letterhead, and four postcards.

I know “reading the manual” isn’t popular among gamers these days, but in this case, it may even be necessary. Infocom was notorious for putting details in the game that you couldn’t solve without something featured in the manual and/or extras. Possibly a clever form of copy protection back in the day.

If you really get stuck, at the bottom I see a map, and two hint books: the official “invisiclues” one, plus some other option called Witts. I’d recommend the latter…the former had some sort of invisible ink setup and is now unreadable, at least to my eye.

    Thanks, that’s genuinely helpful!
The downloads page on gog seems to include ALL the manuals for all the Zork games, and I have no idea which ones I need for Planetfall, so having just the Planetfall stuff in one place is a real time saver.

The one you linked is labelled Apple II, but I suspect it doesn’t matter – I doubt the versions are significantly different, and it was pretty common at the time to print one manual that covers all systems anyway.

This game seems to have an intimidating amount of material to go through… Manual, letter, postcards, some kind of ID card… Do I need all this stuff? Do they have secret information I’ll need during the game?

I checked the feelies and manual before finishing the game, but didn’t notice anything essential, so I guess this is one of those just-for-fun feelie games?
