I am not happy with the way ships are in the game.

I just finished the 4th Mission. This is the first mission with ships, one of the few major differences from the first game. I have multiple problems with ships.
First I built two shipyards on the same island, Something the manual is pretty explicit you should not do. For good reason it turns out. My ships sailed aimlessly and empty around the map. This sort of ended once I burnt the second shipyard down again. I also experienced the first hard crash of the game when i had both shipyards active. I can’t say for sure if that is related but it seemed to be the case.
But even once this was sorted out it did not really work too well. You only have iron on an island in this map and not on your mainland. The shipyard on the island was filled to the brim with iron ore but the ships only ever carried a single piece of ore at a time back to where my smithy was. That obviously hampered my ability to train my soldiers. I tried to mitigate that by building a foundry and smith on the island with the iron. That produced a lot of swords and shields but they never left the island. I had 40 of each by the end of my game on the island but that did not help me at all. The indirect control is a cool concept when it works. But if it doesn’t and you have no way of doing anything about it, it is just infuriating.
One other weird thing is all my soldiers went to the shipyard when they were not needed. When you expand your territory and your frontline shifts you need soldiers in different places. I built a Fortress where 9 soldiers find place and once the frontline is further down there is only 1 soldier eventually. But instead of the 8 soldiers, that are not needed there anymore, going to the nearest warehouse and then getting to the frontline like they are supposed to, they went all the way back to the shipyard in the west, and then all the way over the whole map back to the frontline in the east.
Thankfully there are not only 3 missions left with ships. If it is as buggy as the first one i think i will skip them.

Sorry for my rambling. It is way past bedtime here 🙂

I think that map is approximately where I fail to proceed every time I replay this game. The game was already slow but it becomes glacial and everything stops happening or I seem to run out of some necessary resource or can’t move it to where it’s needed or something. Really frustrating.
