I reckon it would be fun to do a month on the Simpsons licensed games made for DOS.
As far as I can tell, there’s only 4:

    The Simpsons Arcade Game

    Bart vs. the Space Mutants

    Bart’s House of Weirdness

    Krusty’s Super Fun House

And one of them, House of Weirdness, is even a DOS exclusive!

They’re ALL a bit weird if you ask me, in that “where did this thing come from, and who could possibly have made it” sort of way.
They’re from a time when the Simpsons was quickly gaining a cult following but was not yet the juggernaught it was to become. A time when nobody cared so much about its IP management, and game devs were pretty free to put any wild and wacky things they wanted in there.

Also, this is one of the few areas where EGA works REALLY well, with all the bright primary colours, especially the iconic yellow skin!

That’s a hard yes from me. Great idea.

I love to hate on Simpsons games, none of them makes even the slightest bit of effort to capture the essence of the Simpsons (which to be fair, is an essence that isn’t easy to define) but rather they are always just random games with SImpsons IP slapped onto them.

Virtual Simpsons is probably the only one that does (as exploring the city of Springfield is a big part of the Simpsons essance), but that’s not DOS unfortunately.

But sure I would love to hear about all the shitty arcade Simpsons DOS games

Doesn’t count, but there was the Simpsons Cartoon Studio for Windows 3.1. It was rather limited, with only a few set-in-stone voice clips for each character. I wish they had allowed freeform text.

Well I tried the DOS version of Mutants and it is insanely hard. It seems exactly like the NES game but a little slower, and getting even remotely close to an enemy kills you. But I do like the Ad-lib sound effects. A bit farty yet somehow charming.
