Warlords II (Deluxe)

One of the pinnacles of turn based strategy.

+1; great game (in my memory)
I’ve recently went back to play this game after more than 20 years brake 🙂 Great, simple strategy. Perfect to play after hard and long day.
Definitely +1 for me as well. Played both no. 1 and this one, but the first game had the same map every game. Baded my first real D&D campaign map as GM on a random Warlords 2 map. Rhakwood, dollarone, that was from Warlords 2 👍🏻 Fun, fun game in the early 90s!
I used to work at a Laser Tag centre as a teenager and I remember playing this on the work computer late at night when no customers were around.
The regular Laser Tag players would hang around the centre and we’d regularly have 8 player games running over weeks.
Great game and lots of variety. So simple that anyone could pick up and play.
I know most people prefer Warlords II but I would like to speak out in favour of Warlords I here.
For many many years I didn’t like the gfx of WL II. I guess that was the main reason for me back in the 90s and 2000s. (Nowadays I have made my peace with it.) Plus I have such fond memories connected to WL I.
Warlords I was the first time/game I totally forgot about time and played the whole night with my best friend back then (untill his older sister came home from the club and basically sent us to sleep 😀 )
And I actually made a graphics mod for it before I’ve even ever heard of the term mod. (For some reason, the version I had, had parts decompiled or so. This meant that the graphics were acessible files in a subfolder an I turned the units into characters and vehicles from star wars.)
So I pick it up every few years again to play a few rounds, despite not being a big strategygames player.
This was my first-ever strategy game. Such fond memories.
