Thought I’d chime in and play this one as it’s a simple one I can do in-between chores at home and I have some vague memories of playing it in 1994/5.

But man, now I know why I didn’t play it for more than 10 minutes back in the day. I can’t even finish level three 😂 All that pipe work and those hidden captives are driving me crazy. It seems that my patience for this kind of cheap crap has waned completely.

    – Why can enemies hurt me clipping through walls/stairs while I’m on the other side and my flamethrower can’t get through?
    – Why are enemies hidden in sewer tubes and can’t I see them until it’s too late and they hurt me?
    – What’s up with hidden walls that should harbour secrets but instead conceal captives you HAVE to rescue to get to the next level?

Considering it was released at the end of ’94, there were much better platformers out there. A simple map would have helped, or just an arrow pointing to the next captive or whatever.
It’s fun to revisit but one shouldn’t linger for too long I guess!

Haha, I guess I’m dying on a pretty lonely hill here! I think I’m about the only person here that kind of likes this game.

Granted it’s ony JUST on this side of the enjoyable/not enjoyable line, but I happily went through the whole thing, and I might do so again if one day I feel so inclined.

I don’t remember any enemy damage clipping through walls on my playthrough. Might have got lucky, or it might be a HH vs AC difference.

It does have a map too. Sort of. If you hit I think it was ‘R’ it replaces your weapon graphics with a radar that displays the nearby captives, but not level layout or enemies.

The rest of the points I think I’ve talked about in other threads, but in short the things that are deal breakers for most people just don’t seem to bother me so much.

Oh, you absolutely MUST use the radar for the hostages. The help screens and hintbook make that clear.

There is also a look up/down mode (Pgup/Pgdn with the keyboard) to show you parts of the level just out of view. I guess it can help in some places where you kinda know where you want to go but not how to get there. Still, I managed to beat the game without using it (because I forgot about its existence).
