For the podcast, the Museum of ZZT might be a valuable resource. It has a lot of scans and a trove of maps. A lot of the ZZT community is organized around the museum.

For a more personal history of the game, there is Anna Anthropy’s book ZZT.

I almost impulse purchased the book but then noticed the price of shipping 😮

There is an ebook version if you’re interested in that book. I got it as part of a Humble Bundle and it’s worth a read but it is very much a very personal perspective on ZZT.

yes, I think the ZZT book is probably one of the best ones in the Boss Fight Books line

i’ve owned a Boss Fight bundle from Humble ages ago, and i’m glad this gave me an excuse to actually read it. it’s fantasic! i love queer stories, and it was lovely to hear her perspective on ZZT. i prefer to read personal histories rather than the general populace… diving into someone’s brain for a bit can be such a nice journey!
