There was also thisgame called Elifoot, which was a management game. I don’t remember if it had teams/players from all around the world, or if someone modded those in. What I remember is playing some of the local teams (including some from my town and neighboring regions) in the national Brazilian championship. Many afternoons were spent around my cousins’ computer while the actual match was being televised in the living room. And the game correctly “guessed” some of the results. You can imagine how a bunch of kids got excited over that!
Elifoot is still around nowadays, available for modern systems and even cellphones. I think old Elifoot II is freeware, and it is probably the best alternative here.
