Thought I’d start with this one. I think I may have had Team 17’s arcade bowling game Kingpin back in the day, but I can’t remember now. The other logo at the start is Eastpoint Software, which also did the Lino King.

IMPORTANT: I did not get any sound at first, but by luck I typed “POOL S” to start and the sound worked.

So this looks to have US/UK versions of 8-ball (UK has different rules, and very few ball colors), plus 9-ball and some other weirdnesses. The survivor tournament looks interesting. Each turn, you have to pocket a ball without scratching or you rack up a strike. 3 strikes and yer out.

Overall, not bad! You can also set all players to CPU opponents and just spectate. Or use a hex editor and change the CPU names. Couple of bugs:
    – At least in Dosbox, sometimes the music gets “stuck” on a note, which is kind of annoying, but starting a new game fixes it.
    – Occasionally the CPU will think itself into an infinite loop, and its thinking “clock” will run forever, forcing a complete restart.
    – I lost one game on the first shot, but the game insisted I was a “pro” while my opponent was “not worthy” (nice Wayne’s World reference).

I played a little bit of this, figured out how the UK 8 ball is played (more or less) and how the interface works. This probably would’ve been a nice little time killer back in the day for me.

I’m kind of thinking, has anybody done a roguelike pool game yet? 😀

I played this one a couple of times in a browser, just to see how it is. It is of course very different from Virtual Pool.

It took me a while to get used to aiming with an overheard look, and I missed a lot of easy balls at first.

Oh, I also hit the infinite loop clock bug once.
