Hello,
I came across the DOS Game Club while surfing on the website “The Good Old Days” which is run by Mr. Creosote. He has participated in several podcast episodes as well.
Personally, I ran into DOS games very late. Our first PC at home only arrived in about 1996. This was the time of transition from DOS to Windows 95. This means that I have not seen a lot of new DOS releases at that time. That being said, I had the opportunity to pick up quite a number of DOS re-releases, bundles with magazines (who remembers the “Bestseller Games” ?) and even some old big box releases. In addition to that I discovered at about that time the abandonware scene which gave me the opportunity to experience some of the classic DOS games as well. Many years later, GOG has become an excellent source for many old DOS games.
Since having first visited the DOS Game Club I have listened to a number of episodes. However, some episodes I have deliberately left out. Not because I am not interested in the game, but the other way around: I may still play the game and do not want to listen to any spoilers. Just recently I started a new game of “Alien Legacy” which falls into this category. Anyway, I am happy that I found you and certainly will listen to more episodes. I may also propose the one or the other game at some point.
