Howdy, all. I’ve been listening to the podcast for about a year now, and I decided it’s finally time to participate.

I’m (barely) old enough to have grown up with DOS, but I had this interesting relationship with the computer in that my mom wanted the computer to be for education ONLY. The game console was for entertainment, the computer was for learning. While I played precious few actual DOS games, I could tell you all about Number Munchers.

So this podcast has been for me a window into this alternate universe of gaming that theoretically I could have been a part of but due to circumstances completely missed out on. I’m excited to start participating more actively!

For the curious, my mom finally gave up on the “no games on the computer” thing around when I entered middle school, but by then DOS games were really starting to be displaced by Windows games.

    Hello there.

My parents were actually the other way around, no console what so ever. I missed out on some of those console gems.

But it’s nice to read you’re discovering these old fantastic and sometimes not so fantastic games.

Nice to meet you, have fun.

Oh I’ve completely missed this thread. Welcome to both! Always exciting to have new members on and hear their stories 🙂

I’m also a “no console” boy btw. My parents thought videogames were a waste of time, so the only computer in the house was one “I could do homework on”.

Nevermind the fact I never did any homework and used the computer exclusively for gaming 😀
