Anyone else having issues with the sound in the dos version of MOO2? I’m running it on a 486dx2-66, and it pops, crackles, hisses, and sounds terrible. I’ve never had an issue with other games on this machine. I might just have to switch to dosbox if I can’t fix it!

DOSBox has the same problems, I’m afraid.

I don’t remember that problem on any of my real machines.

I’ve heard of people with Dosbox who had the same problems, but increasing the cycles seem to help a bit.

I think vede had similar issues, but was able to resolve it. I’ll ask if he can share his solution.

If people are still encountering this issue, there are several things you can try:

Increasing the cycles (70000 is a good place to start)

If you are playing windowed, capturing the mouse cursor can help

If you are playing on a machine with a power-saver mode that can let you play a game with or without the GPU, play integrated only. This was my issue.
