Decided to try Ye Olde game today. Of course it’s not Virtual Pool, but it’s honestly not bad. Certainly better than my attempt to make a 1-ball pool game in Qbasic. The controls take some getting used to but they’re not too bad.
It appears this is set up for straight pool – there’s no built-in penalty for sinking the 8-ball out of turn. I got a kick out of it being colored Kermit the Frog green instead of black, due to CGA limitations. If I’d had an IBM PC back in the early 80’s, I would have been thrilled with this game.
