Hey @firefyte
I finally got my VR working again and tried the demo of “Sam & Max: This Time it’s Virtual”.
It’s surprisingly entertaining to drop into their rich and wacky world. The surreal setting makes VR’s disembodied sensations and characters less troublesome.
And somehow in VR the 3D rendered Sam & Max feel more true to the older game and comics than their Telltale-developed adventures. I just wish there were a cell-shading option for comparison of what could be.
Sadly playing all the way through the demo doesn’t give a great first impression because the controls lack polish.
“Seated” controls still require a lot of reaching and you’ll never pick up the bazooka again if you accidentally drop it. It’s also not obvious when you can interact with things without trial and error or waiting a while for indicators to appear.
Also, teleportation movement was broken within the office scene, at least when using my HTC Vive.
Perhaps if Windows Game Club revisits the later Sam & Max games, then I’ll drop $30 for the Occulus version.
Until then I’d recommend folks try the demo themselves before buying, and only if they already have a supported VR headset.
