Steve Purcell Pixar anecdote

Sam & Max are probably my fav LucasArts adventure, but I was not familiar with the characters or the creator. The discovery about who Purcell was and his involvement in the game and film industry happened without trying: I just keep bumping into his name every time I check a piece of media I find interesting.
The anecdote I remember most is about Cars and the short Mater and the Ghostlight included in the DVD. It seems that Purcell was involved in the storyboard (and even did some voice acting), and he is known for sketching monsters in his free time. In the DVD commentary, the staff mentioned they asked Purcell specifically for the design of the Screaming Banshee, a scary monster truck. Purcell’s design was immediately approved and modeled for the short.
