I got someone with the username “seventeenseconds1015” reaching out to me through YouTube, saying they have some trouble using the forums on their phone, but they would like to suggest we check out Turrican 2.
I figured I put it in the suggestion forum on their behalf, so here we go!
Turrican II: The Final Fight is a German-made “run & gun” type shooter/platformer game, released in 1991 originally for Amiga and Commodore 64, but ported to many other platforms including MS-DOS.
So there you have it. Would be interesting to check out some time for sure.
