    On sale now:

If you do use scummvm, use the latest version, don’t use the packaged version.

Or you could just use the copy your friend loaned to you about 15 years ago that you still haven’t given back.
    Oh wait, that’s just me!

Just bought it on GOG, because why not? Thanks for the tip!

I also own the physical copy from the White Label Doubles (which came with Day of the Tentacle):

Interesting! Is it the CD or floppy version? Any differences from the conventional box release? Appreciate those combo releases from back then 🙂

It’s the CD version, with full voice throughout! But I actually turn the voice off to bring back memories of the floppy version, haha.

Differences: from looking at the GOG discussion, there’s no copy protection anymore, and the music is somewhat compressed. To be honest I didn’t notice either one (and yes I’m getting a head start for April)

The White Label release is the CD version. You can see the contents in this picture:

I think the main difference between it and the original CD release is that the manual cover is black&white, and the hintbook is not included.

I bought the GOG version, which technically is not the DOS version but a ScummVM package that doesn’t include the executable.

Since I now own _a_ copy of the game I feel justified downloading the DOS version from archive.org, just so I can run it through the DOSBox Staging’s VGA CRT filter which has become _that_ extra sprinkle of fairy dust that makes the experience feel _that_ crucial extra bit nostalgic to me.

I have the good old family 486sx but no CD-ROM drive, plus I’m starting to become a bit scared of turning that thing on (it has some issues with the image already, a bit sad the thing is practically rotting on me).

I really should try those VGA CRT filters! Thanks for the tip. How exactly does one enable those on DOSBox-staging?

Per the release notes, it’s already enabled out of the box! (Note current release is actually 82.2)

Phil(‘s Computer Lab) also did a series on Dosbox-S. The first one was about video, where he said CRT is still the best, but DB is catching up. He was more impressed with the audio capabilities, including Adlib Gold:
