EA have just posted a huge blog on how they uncovered a large archive of original tapes and media on the Wing Commander series and Road Rash.

They have just released all the games rebuilt and remastered from these assets.

Well worth reading the blog in all its glory:

Have to say, I’m seriously tempted to drop everything and spend all weekend playing Wing Commander. Amazing to see this sort of thing after all this time. Wing Commander 3 is the one that will benefit most. That was very early in the FMV era and the compression used left artifacts all over the place on the DOS version. If you own these on GOG already, all this stuff is free as well.

Bit disappointed that Crusader No Remorse didn’t get remastered FMV’s but you can’t have everything I suppose.
