Game Guides, official and unofficial, were an important part of early gaming. Some games from the era borderline require some form of hints to get through!

I was wondering if anyone has any memories of particularly great guides from the era.

My submission is “Phantasmagoria The Official Insider’s Guide.” You can actually see the whole thing at archive.org with an account (you borrow it) https://archive.org/details/phantasmagoriaof0000shan

It had hints, upside-down answers, maps, and then a huge section of interviews with people involved with the game.

Phantasmagoria was actually my older sister’s game, and so I read this guide without context of playing the game, rather I would watch her play. Later on, I played through the game myself.

I remember we had other such guides, but none so memorable. Anyone else have favorite game guides? Anyone still have them?
