Is it my imagination, or are there no neutral towns in COM? I think I explored the entire Myrror plane without finding any.

Second game of the month, Warlord, Myrran, 6 life books (Warlord is only 2 picks? I thought it was 3!). Halflings.

I restarted a couple of times to make sure I have both Stream Of Life and Crusade. Heroism is also a necessary spell. I can live without Planar Seal, although I like the idea of conquering all of Myrror and never seeing the world of Arcanus, and nobody over there able to even meet me before I cast Spell Of Mastery.

Anyone have an idea for the rare spell to choose with 11 chaos books?

#7 11 books of one color version 5 – 11 sorcery books, Sky Drake. massively expensive to cast and maintain, but man, what a powerful unit!

(disclaimer – I haven’t actually tried this one)

#6 11 books of one color version 4 – 11 nature books, Gaia’s blessing. not as comprehensive as stream of life, but also less expensive to maintain. It takes a while, but then you discover that you have capitols with pop in the 20’s while your opponents are still in the teens.

    In Master Of Magic.

Current game: trying another OP strategy with 11 Nature books. Still halflings, though. I never seem to want any other race than halflings.

I’m going to try later on this month – Warlord, Myrran, 5 life, halflings, of course – and try to get a stack of 9 champion adamantium slingers. I figure they can mow down about anything.

OK, First off, Caster Of Magic.

Tried playing like I do in MOM with life and halflings, but COM doesn’t allow you to choose the 11 books strategy, so I chose 10 life, specialist, and alchemist.

Turns out Alchemist was a good choice, since I have a lot of gold, and am usually struggling for mana.

#5 9 books of sorcery. Sorcery Mastery. Conjurer. The books and sorcery mastery give discounts on casting all sorcery spells. Conjurer gives discount on summoning spells. Together you get (I think) a 60% discount on sorcery summoning spells.

People who have done this say that it makes a big difference in early exploring when you can summon a couple of phantom warriors to every battle.

#3 Combine Runelord and Artificer. Artificer gives a discount on casting Enchant Item and Create Artifact, and gives you those spells to start with. Runelord gives you a discount on casting Arcane magic spells (such as Enchant Item and Create Artifact). Combined, you can break items on your anvil for less mana than it takes to make them.

#2 11 books of one color version 2 – 11 life books, choose Incarnation. You can summon Torin The Chosen, the most powerful hero from the start.

Umm, Why are we doing the second game instead of the original Master Of Orion?

There is a guy in the SCUMM bar wearing a pin that says, “Ask me about LOOM”.
    Ask him about LOOM.

I should mention that we had windows 98 at the time, and there was no sound in DOS games. I never heard any sounds or music in this game, or in LeChuck’s Revenge, until the coming of SCUMMVM. We still played this game to death.

The special edition has a slightly different control scheme, which I found awkward. I had to switch over to classic mode in order to get the herring, for example.

This is my preferred way of playing this on my phone.

You can actually map the forest on Melee Island (TM), so you don’t actually need that map the guy will sell you.

I don’t think you can map the caves under Monkey Island (TM), though.

When you find the catapult, you will be amazed at what you can target.

OK, I’m new and registered today in order to converse about this game. I also have played this many times over the years, but I remember playing it the first time.

I got this for free in the PC Gamer disc, in what they called “The Classic Gaming collection.” My daughter and I worked on this game for quite some time. It was quirky and weird from the start, but what made us laugh the first time was the very important pirates describing just what is in rum.
