Another freeware soccer management game is Football Fanatic by Thunderbear Software Creations.
It has a text interface but it’s very polished. You can take care of transfers, scouting, youth prospects, training, etc.
You can even edit teams and players with an editor which comes with the game.

I remember playing Football Management games when I was a child.

I recall playing Championship Manager and Football Manager for DOS. Also another DOS Management game I played a lot as a kid was Allenatore which is an indie game:

As non-management football games I also played Tecmo European Championship 1992 which I remember you can save your best goals to watch later.

Hi Toasty,

I think it could be played over a network (using a Modem). I don’t know if it’s possible to “make the game think” it’s over a modem when it’s actually through the internet.
I have never been able to play it online. It would be great since it’s a huge game!.
